In the absence of Chainnan Hall and Mayor Wade, the meeting lolSS presided over by Dr. J. C. Wessell. On motion by Mr. Roland, seconded by Dr. Smith, the minutes of the last meeting were approved without being read, copies having been mailed to the Board members. Carried. The Health Officer requested permission to change the Merit System Classification of Junior Sanitarian, as set up in our 1957-1958 budget, to that of SerUior Sanitarian. Motion was made by Mr. Roland that this change be made retroactive to January I, 1958. Motion seconded by Dr. Knox and carried. At the February Board meeting Chairman Hall appointed a committee to make reco_en- daiUons for an attorney to the Board of Health. This cOlllllli.ttee rec~ended Mr. John C. Wessell, Jr., and on motion by Dr. Knox, seconded by Mr. Roland, Mr. Wessell was appointed attorney for the Consolidated Board of Health on a fee basis of $50.00 per month. Carried. Mr. John C. Wessell, Jr. was present and called attention to a letter he had written Mr. Lassiter, Sanitary Engineer, regarding warrants being issued for parties violating the garbage rules and regulations. He stated that it would be useless to bring action in Recorder's Court unless we have witnesses, pictures and concrete evidence of the violations. Mr. Lassiter reported that he has the photographic evidence on one party and was trying to get it on the other. Mr. Charlton A. Pope, President Taxpayers Association of New Hanover County, appeared before the Board and requested a copy of the score sheet made on the James Walker Memorial Hospital on January 8, 1958, by the health department. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Dr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Roland, that the Health Officer be instructed to make available to Mr. Pope the findings as shown on the score sheet and the recommendations to the hospital for the corrections of deficiencies existing as of January 8, 1958. Motion carried. Motion for adjournment was made by Dr. KnOx. Approved rJ / 1958 btr .
