03/03/1965 401 " .... REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD 01" HEALTH HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD March 3, 1965 --- Present: Dr. J. W. Hooper, Chairman, Dr. J. C. Knox, Dr. James Smith, Dr. William Wagoner, Mayor O. O. Allsbrook Minutes of February 10, 1965 meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Smith, seconded by Mayor O. O. Allsbrook. Dr. Wagoner nominated Dr. James Tidler to fill the vacancy on the Board created by the resignation of Dr. R. Bryant Hare, Jr., on February 10, 1965. Mayor Allsbrook seconded the motion. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the ex- officio members. (The secretary was asked to write Dr. Tidler a letter telling him of the appointment and to also notify the proper news media.) It Was agreed that a Certificate be prepared and given to Dr. Hare in appreciation of his service to the Board. Mr. A. L. Candler of Candler Plumbing Company who is working on the A & P Store at Winter Park, presented objections to licensed journeyman plumbers from other counties not being allowed to work in New Hanover County while New Hanover County licenses are recognized in other towns. (This is to be referred to our Attorney for further study). Also, the secretary was instructed to write to all the cities in the state that are larger than Wilmington and ask what their requirements are for the Journeyman License examination. tlo...... Dr. Smith made a motion that we reciprocate with cities with comparable examinations to our Journeyman Plumber's examination. This was seconded by Mayor Allsbrook. Motion carried. Mr. H. McC. Biddle's resignation as Plumbing Inspector, dated December 1, 1964 was read to the Board. Since the letter was written Mr. Biddle has asked that his resignation be withdrawn. Due to his illness and car accident since that time, the letter had not been presented to the Board as it was uncertain whether or not he still wanted to resign. Mr. W. H. Cranford, Director of Sanitation, reported that last week Mr. Biddle expressed a desire to work part time but not to assume the responsibilities of Plumbing Inspector. By common consent the Board asked that Mr. Cranford get in writing from Mr. Biddle what he wishes to do about employment. Information was given to the Board about the new Orientation Program for Public Health Nurses, sponsored by the State Board of Health for our new nurses. Dr. Smith brought to the attention of the Board that funds for the School Dentist for this year will be depleted in April but that his work is not finished. The question was brought up as to whether or not we could keep him and pay for the remainder of the time out of next year's School Dentist Budget. (Dr. Hooper will check with Mr. Love to see if this is legal). Dr. Smith made the motion that if it is legal, we continue this program with the school dentist. Mayor Allsbrook seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. -- Respectfully submitted, , 7;(~ x3J~ Approved: April 14. 1965
