REDULAR HEETING OF BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
July 9, 1965

Present: Dr. Joseph W. Hooper, Chairman, Dr. J. C. Knox, Dr. James Smith,
Dr. James Tidler, Dr. William Wagoner, Bradford L. Tillery, Attorney
Minutes of the last meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Knox, seconded by
Dr. Wagoner.
Berm at Wrightsville Beach: Exerpts of minutes of vfrightsville Beach Town
Meeting regarding the extension of the Berm to close Moore's inlet were read.
If this inlet is closed, treated sewerage would be trapped behind Wrightsville
Beach. Dr. Wagoner made the motion that a representative of State Stream and
Sanitation, (Mr. Armstrong, if possible) and Hr. Henry Cranford, Director of
Sanitation, run a survey on the situation and also check out the treatment
plant and give a written report to this Board as to what the anticipated situa-
tion would be if the inlet is closed and the situation which presently exists.
Dr. Tidler seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Health Departmmt Participation in Head Start Project: After a general dis-
cussion, it was decided that we would continue helping with this project. Hiss
A. Lou Davis, Director of Nursing, will determine the percent of time spent in
this project and try to be reimbursed by the project for nursing time spent.
Dr. Hooper made the motion that in the future, participation in additional
similar programs be cleared with the Board of Health. Dr. Tidler seconded the
motion. Notion carried.

Developmental E.'valuation Program and PKU Program: Miss Davis. reported that we
are participating in the Developmental Evaluation Program for retarded children
and that we have been asked to participate in the PKU Program which will last
approximately one month. Dr. Hooper made the motion that we participate in the
PKU Program since it will be a temporary program. Hotion was seconded and
carried.
Pltunbing Code: Dr. Hooper reported that Mr. N. A. McKenzie would serve as
Chairman of the Cormnittee to bring our Pltunbing Code in line with the State
Plumbing Code. Other members of this Cormnittee who are being contacted and
asked to serve are: Hr. W. H. Cranford, Hr. Louis Smith, Mr. Granville Smith,
Mr. Rufus Parlier and Hr. Lacy O. Goodyear.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
