MINUTES OF BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING, May 9, 1969

Minutes of the April 2 meeting were approved by motion of Mayor Allsbrook, seconded
by Dr. Reynolds.
Bud~et for 1969-70: The Budget was presented for the year 1969-70. After dis-
cussion of each section, Mayor Allsbrook made the motion that it be accepted.
This motion was seconded by Dr. Reynolds and was passed unanimously.
Board of Health Charter: The otginal charter of the local Board of Health has been
questioned by several County Commissioners. Upon recommendation of Mr. Hall, the
Board unanimously agreed to remain under this charter which would keep the composi-
tion of the Board as it is now. (Mr. Hall explained that the Board of Health could
vote to recind the Charter and that this is all that is required to do away with it.)
Maternity Patients returnin~ to School: The Board of Education has had a policy
that a new mother could not return to school until the baby was three months old.
Dr. Bellamy told the Board that his Board was in the process of changing this to
"until physically able". The Board of Health is in agreement with this and will
endorse this policy. The final decision will be left with the Superintendent of
Schools.

Air Pollution Re~ulations: Dr. Knox gave copies of the Air Pollution Regulations,
which were adopted by this Board some time ago, to each member as a reminder that
these are still on our books but are not being enforced.

Copies of regulations to be followed by builders, before we
them, were given to the Board. This letter states that the
percolation test results, the septic tank, plumbing and well
plot plan be furnished showing location of each facility in
before we will approve his plans for a Building Permit.
Perscription Foods: Dr. Knox reported that he had talked with Miss Elizabeth
Jukes, State Nutritionist, who had told him even though this program is a Health
Department Program, anyone can distribute the food after the perscription is given.
Permits to Move Mobile Homes: It has been suggested that we require Mobile Home
Dealers to have a permit before moving a Mobile Home to a lot. The Board suggests
that Dr. Knox have Mr. Fox draw up something along this line for approval by this
Board. Dr, Reynolds made a motion to this effect, Mayor Allsbrook seconded it,
motion carried. It is suggested that the same rules apply to trailers as to home
sites.
Plumbin~: Mr. Hall reported that a Mr. McGee had been in touch with him on behalf
of local plumbers, The plumbers want to have a certified facility to make sure
plumbers are qualified before they are allowed to work, Mr, Hall referred Mr.
McGee to Mr, Fox and told him if he had further questions about this he was welcome
to come to the Board Meeting,

Mayor Allsbrook's Last Meetin~ as Board Member: Mayor Allsbrook told the Board
that this would be his last meeting as a member of the Board since he would retire
in May, The Board expressed appreciation to Mr. Allsbrook for his services to the
Board of Health over the years.
