~ . MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING, September 3, 1969

Present: Mr. J. M. Hall, Jr., Chairman, Dr. James Tidler, Dr. James
Smith, Dr. Frank Reynolds
Minutes of the August 6 meeting were approved by motion of Dr. TidIer,
seconded by Dr. Smith.
Personnel: Mrs. Betty West, Supervisor II, came to work with us On September
1. Mll!!, West was introduced to the Board and her work was discussed. Mrs.
West will help with the Medicare Program, the Program for the Aging, will be
a werking supervisor with a small case load, and will cooperate with the School
of MediCine, Chapel Hill, N. C.
Dental Pro~ram: Dr. Reynolds made the motion that we get a State Dentist
if one is available. This motion was seconded by Dr. TidIer and carried.
Dr. Smith explained that beginning next year, if parents are On Welfare, we
can be reimbursed for work done On their children. This money could be used
to employ a nurse or helper if we have a full time dentist. Dr. Smith also
stated that the Dental Society will have to give approval if we have a full-
time dentist, but this would not be necessary fer a six month program.

Sub-Divisions: Dr, Knox presented some problems we are facing with the
developers of sub-divisions, Some developers are beginning sub-divisions
by building just a few houses to begin with, and not calling it a sub-division
in order to keep from meeting all the requirements of a sub-division.
