REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF HEALTH, November 5, 1969

Present: Mr. J. M. Hall, Jr., Chairman, Mayor L. M. Cromartie, Dr. James
TidIer, Dr. James Smith, Dr. Frank Reynolds
Minutes of the October meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Reynolds, seconded
by Dr. TidIer.
Plumbin~: A discussion of master and journeyman plumbers resulted in an
agreement that we should require journeyman license. Mr. Carl McGee, repre-
sentative of the plumbers did not appear before the board with the plan for
this, therefore, the board asked Dr. Knox to see how he is progressing on this
plan, and if he is not progressing, we will form our own committee to begin
work on it.
Mayor Cromartie suggested that if a shortage of plumbers exists that Cape Fear
Tech would be glad to offer a course in plumbing. Dr. Knox will talk with Mr.
McLeod of Cape Fear Tech concerning this.
Staff, Dr. Knox told the board that Mrs. Betty Croom, PHN I, and Mrs. Dorothy
Paul, Practical Nurse I, have joined our staff and that Mrs. Ellen H. Ryder,
PHN I,has submitted her resignation,in order to return to school, effective
January 1, 1970.

Audit Report: Dr. Reynolds made the motion, seconded by Mayor Cromartie, that
the audit report be approved as submitted.

Attorney, The Board was in agreement that Mr. James Fox, Attorney, be paid his
regular fee since we have been using him regularly, even though he resigned as
County Attorney effective July 1, 1969. Mr. Fox had told the Board that he
would help out until a replacement could be found.
Dental Pro~ram - Title 19: Dr. Smith suggested that when and if we start planning
new quarters that we should plan for dental offices. including two work rooms.
a waiting room, business office and laboratory since under Title 19 all welfare
children will be eligible for free dental services.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Note: Dr. Knox talked with Mr. McLeod of Cape Fear Tech. Mr. McLeod will call
a meeting of the Plumbing Inspectors and Plumbing Contractors to discuss
this need and stated that they would be very glad to start a course for
journeyman plumbers.

Dr. Knox also talked with Mr. Carl McGee who stated that he is working
on a plan and is conferring with Mr. James Fox, Attorney, for his thoughts
on the plan.
