REGULAR MEETING - BOARD OF HEALTH - May 2, 1973

Present: Dr. Heyward Bellamy, Chairman, Dr. James Smith, Dr. James Tidler,
Mr. M. H. Vaughan, Mr. Ed Carter and Attorney James C. Fox
Minutes of the April 4 meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Smith, seconded
by Dr. Tidler.
Septic Tanks - Perc Test: Mr. Vaughan stated, and asked that it be recorded
in the minutes, that no authority had been given by the County Commissioners
for installation of septic tanks in the County. He stated that this is the
business of the Board of Health and should not be referred to the Commissioners.
Dr. Knox told of some problems we have been having with people wanting lots
approved when the water table was about eleven inches. By common consent the
Board agreed that the 36 inch water table recommended by the State Board of
Health should be enforced.
New Quarters. A letter had been received from Medical Care Commission stating
that Hill Burton funds would depend on whether or not funds were appropriated
by the Federal or State governments. Dr. Smith made the motion that as soon
as our plans are approved by HEW in Atlanta and Medical Care Commission in
Raleigh that, if necessary, we have a delegation go to Raleigh to discuss the
money with them. Dr. Tidler seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
