REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF HEALTH - October 3, 1973
Present I Dr. James Smith, Chairman, Dr. Frank Reynolds, Dr. James TidIer,
Mr. R. E. Carter, Mrs. Vivian Wright and Attorney James Fox
Minutes of the September 5 meeting were approved by motion of Dr. Reynolds
seconded by Dr. TidIer with two minor corrections. (Spelling of Mr. Mohr's
name under Telephone System for New Quarters and under Money From State Board
of Health for New Program change from "amount to be paid" to "who will pay".)
Drain~el A report had been prepared as requested at the September meeting
on work being done and financing of the drainage program. Mr. W. H. Cranford,
Director of Sanitation Activities, was called to the meeting to answer questions
regarding what the machine operators did when they were not on the machines.
Mr. Cranford stated that they oiled the machines and did minor repairs, at times
when we are unable to get men to cut right of ways they have to do this and on
rainy days they make mats, etc. for use in their work. He stated that they were
kept busy.
Mrs. Wright asked about permanent easements for doing drainage work. Mr.
Cranford stated that this was not possible since our work was a one-time
operation - that we do not have the responsibility of keeping up the ditches _
that each operation must be approved by the State Engineer. Also he stated
that property owners would not sign permanent easements because of effects on
sale of property, etc.
Back-up for Nurse Practitioner I Dr. Knox told the Board that this has not
yet been settled, but that he is working on it. Dr. Knox had talked to Mr.
Bill Morrison, Hospital Administrator, who is in turn talking with AHEC doctors
to see what can be arranged. Dr. Knox stated that he hoped this could be worked
out so that our clinics can be used as a teaching program also.
Report of Pro~ess on New Quarters I A report from the builder showing everything
on schedule to date was given to Board Members.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
