REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF HEALTH - November 6, 1974
Present: Dr. James Smith, Chairman, Dr. Frank Reynolds, Dr. James TidIer,
Mrs. Vivian Wright, Mr. W. K. Whitmire, Mr. Bruce Freeman, Mr.
George Chadwick and Attorney James Fox
Absent: Mr. J. R. Reaves, Mr. R. E. Carter
Minutes of the October 9 meeting were approve by motion of Mrs. Wright.
Septic Tank Ordinance: Dr. TidIer gave the committee report on the pro-
posed septic tank ordinance with written copies of the changes to each
member. After discussion and changes of several sections it was decided
that each member would study the ordinance with the changes and adopt it
at the December Meeting.
Genetic Counselling Center: The Department has been approached by the
Department of Human Resources, Health Services Division, to request
that we provide space and administrative direction for a genetic coun-
selling center to serve Region O. The staff for the center would be
paid by State funds for salaries, travel and training. They would also
pay incidental expenses such as postage, educational materials, con-
sultants' fees and rent for space occupied in the Health Department
building.
Dr. Reynolds made the motion that we cooperate with this program and
instruct Health Department personnel to work with them and that we
approve lease of space in building on a yearly basis for a set fee.
After fee is set and plans made this will be brought back to the Board
of Health for final approval. Mr. Chadwick seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
