MINUTES OF BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING - November 5, 1975
Present. Dr. James Smith, Chariman, Dr. Frank Reynolds, Dr. James TidIer,
Mr. R. E. Carter, Mr. George Chadwick, Mr. J. R. Reaves, Mr.
Bruce Freeman, Mrs. Vivian Wright and County Manager Dan Eller
Absent: Mr. W. K. Whitmire
Minutes of the October meeting were approved as presented.
New Member of Home Health Advisory Council: The Home Health Advisory
Council had recommended Ms. Julia Hedrick, LPT, to replace Mrs. Barbara
Robel, LPT, on the Council. Mrs. Robel had moved to another area. Motion
was made by Dr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Chadwick, that the Board accept
this reccommendation. Motion carried.
WIC Program: Ms. Rose Ann Mack, Human Service Planner with the Cape Fear
Council of Governments had asked for approximately one hour at this meeting
for Mrs. Barbara Ann Hughes, Head of Nutrition and Dietary Services Branch
of the Division of Health Services and WIC Program Coordinator and Ms.
Rebecca Amthor, WIC Program Manager to speak and answer questions re the
WIC Program. This program had previously been rejected by the Board of
Health but later was approved by the County Commissioners. Mrs. Mack
asked that based on the information these two gave about the program that
the Board of Health reconsider its decision and apply for this program.
December 1 is the deadline for applications for the year 1975-76. After
much discussion and many questions by the board members, Dr. TidIer made
a motion, seconded by Mr. Chadwick that the committee be reactivated and
asked to restudy the program in light of information given by Mrs. Hughes
and Ms. Amthor and bring back recommendations to the board. It was agreed
that since the December 1st deadline would rush the decision too much, if
application is made that it be made for the year 1976-77. (Mr. Frank
Ballard, Chairman of the Social Services Board was present and recorded this
meeting.)
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
