Allen Hancock NCDOT Div 3 Jeff Suggs NHC Health Welcome and Introductions: Teresa Smith opened the meeting at 11:00 to announce lunch first. 11:15 Teresa announced there would be no training today, just a sharing of information. NCDOT will be available to answer questions. Membership announcements: N/A Minutes: Due to the timing of minutes being emailed, they were printed for perusal at this meeting. Minutes from the May meeting were approved and seconded. Open Forum: Kevin Cowan announced the upcoming Wilmington Safety School on July 26-27 and handed out brochures. The school covers everything from basic safety information to highly technical. Kevin also brought up for awareness the Wisconsin Fire Fighter that died, and 11 others injured from a natural gas incident. If you are a new member or have not completed the membership form, please do so. The airport will be holding their table-top exercise in November. Allen Hancock and Alan Pytcher of NCDOT, Division 3 were on-hand to answer any questions about the project update list for New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties. Questions were answered about the design and bidding process. They were very receptive to answering questions after the meeting. Brunswick County Law Enforcement will be holding a Full Scale Exercise August 8-9 near Cougar Road (Boiling Springs). Roads will be closed and public notifications will be going out. New Business: The table top exercise will take place in November. The full scale exercise has been pushed back to 2019. We will still be in compliance and 3 years to complete, we will ask for a reprieve for the push back. November is election time. Teresa asked not to be nominated as chair for the 2019 year and seeks members to step up. She would like to have answers by the September meeting so this can be placed on the agenda.
