Welcome and Introductions:
The 1st quarter meeting, held at the NHC Emergency Operations Center, was called to order at 11:00
hours starting with introductions.
Membership announcements:
Pender County LEPC has officially joined the New Hanover County LEPC. Welcome Tommy Batson and
Michael Carlisle. D Allen Hancock, with NCDOT, also joined us in today’s meeting.
Minutes:
A review of meeting minutes from the meeting on November 9th, 2016 resulted in approval.
Open Forum:
Thomas Johnson, USCG Liaison, announced an exercise in Moorehead City on February 16th. Mr.
Johnson also gave some information about drones.
Dustin Stream, ILM Fire, announced they would be conducting a “Mass Casualty” Exercise at the airport
on Saturday, October 14th.
New Business:
Today’s meeting took us back to the basics of LEPC with a presentation by Teresa Smith “LEPC 101.” Ms.
Smith shared important information on the beginning of LEPCs and how important they are today.
Teresa discussed the grant process in NHC. She has requested funds for the $1000 Tier II grant as well
as $10,000 HMEP grant funds. By requesting the grant funds ahead of time, this will decrease the
turnaround time when applying for the grant.
Eric Hatcher, who has been appointed as the Chair of the Emergency Planning & Response Sub-
Committee addressed the committee on upcoming training recommendations.
