Welcome and Introductions:
The 2nd quarter meeting, held at the NHC Emergency Operations Center, was called to order at 11:00
hours starting with introductions.
Membership announcements:

Minutes:
A review of meeting minutes from April 20, 2017 were read.
Open Forum:
Mike Carpenter of Acme Smoked Fish asked what type of chemical information do first responders have
when responding to an incident. Eric mentioned “e-plan” as a means of having information readily
available to provide to first responders.
Teresa Smith announced there will be a two day exercise, scheduled for May 31 and June 1, 2017. There
might even be injects for businesses.
County Commissioner Patricia Kusek introduced herself.
New Business:
LEPC will be reviewing the NC HazMat Annex. Eric Hatcher will coordinate and look to subject matter
experts and first responders for assistance.
Future training was discussed, static displays, NIMS programs.
Possible 2-3 day training on applying for grants.
Would like to capture NIMS and ICS training records to be able to put personnel in the right position for
trainings. Eric would like all LEPC members to speak the same language.
Looking to form a committee to plan a large scale chemical release exercise on River Road.
Linda Willis and Teresa Smith are working on public awareness to bring the community back into the
LEPC. Yearly public announcements are required via newspaper.
