OLD BUSINESS:
By-Laws
Chairman Mason asked if Hope Downs had an update on the By-Laws for the board.
Hope provided a rough draft of the updated By-Laws. Please review them and offer suggestions, additions or corrections to Hope by April 30, 2021 to forward to New Hanover County for
approval. Your feedback is appreciated and needed via Hope’s email so this can be completed.
Chairman Mason asked if there were any questions; there were none.
NEW BUSINESS
Telecommunicator
Week
Hope Downs stated that on April 14, 2021 the Mary Antley Telecommunicator of the Year Award was presented to Nina Britt. Nina has been with the agency since 2015. In December,
Nina was working and handled a call about a deputy that was down due to a hit and run by someone unrelated to the stop he was performing. Nina rose to the occasion and got the deputy
the assistance that was needed in a very timely manner.
There was a huge response from our agencies on Sunday, April 11 and Monday, April 12 to come out and greet 911 staff during National
Telecommunicator Week.
The response from all of New Hanover County’s agencies is very appreciated.
Steven Still wanted to update everyone on the government building redevelopment
project. Groundbreaking has started and the tower at the complex is scheduled for the next couple of months. They will be rebuilding the tower and trying to minimize outages to agencies.
The plan is for the new building to be completed September 2022. Steven will provide more information as construction progresses.
Chairman Mason asked if there was going to be sufficient
room in the EOC and Steven stated he thought there would be.
Chairman Mason asked about the Purvis install. Hope Downs stated there would be a Q&A scheduled for Monday, April 19.
Everyone is welcome to join the session and there will be updates of where the project is currently.
Chairman Mason asked if there were items to add for new business; no one had any.
OTHER
ITEMS AND REPORTS
9-1-1 Center
Chairman Mason asked Hope Downs to update everyone on the 911 Center. Hope stated there were 4 new hires in class right now. The next scheduled class is in June.
Chairman Mason
asked if anyone had any other items or questions; no one had any.
IT
Chairman Mason asked Gia Long to update the board on IT. Gia stated that One Solution has been upgraded to 20.4.
The WEBEOC upgrade is in development now. Purvis equipment is on its way.
Chairman Mason asked if there was any other items or questions. Mike Cavaluzzi wanted to discuss the towers.
There was a bad jumper/connector that was replaced and should resolve the issues that have been occurring on the south end. Steven Still and Hope Downs would like to be informed if
there are further issues.
Steven stated he got a call about the lights off on Flemington, and they are waiting on delivery of bulbs. Please let him know if anyone does not see lights
on towers when they are supposed to be lit.
Chairman Mason asked about the budget and the radio position Hope requested. Hope stated right now it has to go before the County Commissioners
so we won’t know until June if it will be approved.
Chairman Mason asked if there were any other items or questions.
Jerry Brewer asked if in the future there was going to be a more
direct approach to fixing the tower issues rather than replacing part after part until the issue is fixed. Random items have been fixed with the tower rather investigating to find the
true issues and that costs a lot of money. Mike Cavaluzzi stated he will follow up on this.
Chairman Mason asked if there were any other items; there were none.
Chairman Mason made
a motion to adjourn, Jerry Brewer seconded.
Meeting adjourned 10:29
