Eric let the committee know that funding available for FY23-24 would be $1.5. He also
let the committee know that an Excel spreadsheet had been put together, it was in their
packet, that listed the agencies that received funding from the New Hanover Community
Endowment and had also requested money from the county for Non -County Agency
Funding, and listed what each of the grants were requested for. Most of the endowment
funds received were for capital projects that the Non -County Agency funds did not fund.
2. Review additional questions/answers from agencies & Committee
discuss any requests not eligible for funding
The committee discussed the eight programs that No Limit Boxing Club applied for
and if next fiscal year they should include something in the scoring criteria about
multiple programs or limit the number of programs. Gwen put this on the list to be
discussed at a later date along with a list of about eight things to be discussed before
FY24-25. There was discussion that everyone might not be funded next fiscal year like
previous fiscal years. For the next meeting committee would like to have the rubric up
on the wall with the post it notes like previous years and the plotted sheet that Scott
does on Excel to look at. Committee also looked at the IRS form 990 for First Fruit
Ministries which was talked about at the last meeting. No issues were found. Note for
Gwen to make a bucket chart. There was some concern brought up about some of the
schools that have applied for funding and whether the county can fund them. Scott
was going to check further into this and have something for next meeting.
Notes: March 16, 2023, Rubric spreadsheets are due to Gwen. Please email or drop by the
Finance office. Scott will begin the preliminary scoring and have ready for March 23 meeting.
March 23 & 24, 2023, at 9 a.m. meeting -to discuss preliminary scoring and make final funding
decisions.
