Assembly:
The Library Advisory Board met in Regular Session on Thursday, November 16th at 1:30 pm at
the Main Library, 201 Chestnut Street.

Chair Patricia Lawler convened the meeting at 1:30 pm.
Public Comment
No public comments.
Agenda Review
No changes.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes from the last board meeting on October 19, 2023, were sent to the board prior to the
meeting for review.
Motion: Liz Carbone MOVED, SECONDED by Harriet Smith, to accept the minutes of the 10/19/23
meeting as written. Upon vote, the MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Correspondence
None received.
Friends of the Library
• Tom reports the FOL met last week. They are working on story walks at the aquarium and parks.
• Still supporting LEAD programs.
• They approved the budget at their meeting and will use funds from membership and donations
to continue to support these efforts.
• Tom says the board will be getting together in December at the treasurer Lynn’s house.
Library Foundation
Dana reports they welcomed Katie Godwin to the board. They are planning a brunch fundraiser on
January 10th.
Director’s Report
• Staff updates – only have one vacancy at Main, otherwise fully staffed.
• Stellar awards were recently given to staff Meaghan Baggett, Scooter Hayes, Mary Kleinfeldt,
and Ezra Letson. Ezra also received an additional award as an Emerging Leader with ALA.
• Today is the 40th anniversary for Margaret Miles.
• Library Foundation – gave money for program shelter at Northeast. The ribbon cutting
ceremony is Nov 19th.
• Northchase – In final stages of design development. Had meetings about AV needs in the library.
Selected exterior finishes. It will go out to bid in Jan-Feb, starting construction in the spring, and
be complete by summer of 2025.
• Dana shared some Project Grace renderings.
• Still working on timelines for when the library and museum will move into the new building.
Committee Reports
None.
New Business
• Patricia shared that she spoke to a patron from Charlottesville, VA in the local history room, and
that she expressed how great staff had been in helping her with her research.

• March 21st @ Northeast in the Oak Room
• April 18th @ Pine Valley in the Pelican Room
• June 20th @ Pleasure Island in the Program Room
