Minutes of the New Hanover County Planning Board
December 5, 2023
An agenda review of the New Hanover County Planning Board was held on December 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the
New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Dr., Conference Room 138 in Wilmington,
North Carolina.

The meeting started at 3 PM. Planning Operations Supervisor Ken Vafier informed the members in attendance
that a staff presentation at the Board of Commissioners Agenda Review, immediately preceding the Planning
Board meeting, might delay Ms. Roth, who will be presenting on the Western Bank Study.
Associate Planner Wendell Biddle provided an overview of Item 1, rezoning request Z23-22. Discussion focused
on the septic provisions for the property.
Board members and staff discussed the type of information that was be helpful to include in staff updates, and
it was determined that staff would start sending out the Technical Review Committee (TRC) agenda to Planning
Board members so they were aware of by-right projects being reviewed by staff. Other topics discussed
included schools data, the Last Frontier water-sewer infrastructure project that the County is partnering with
CFPUA on, and upcoming transportation projects. It was identified that map showing the locations of projects
under development could be helpful.
The meeting ended at approximately 4:07 PM.
