Minutes of the New Hanover County Planning Board
May 2, 2023
An agenda review meeting of the New Hanover County Planning Board was held on May 2, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at
230 Government Center Dr. in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Staff provided an overview of the two discussion items on the agenda related to the officer elections and meeting
calendar. Ms. Roth informed the board members in attendance that it would not be required to elect new officers
and that Vice Chair Petroff could serve as acting chair until Ms. Girardot’s vacant seat was filled in August when
new officers were traditionally elected. She also described the conflict between the Board of Commissioners
agenda review at 4 pm prior to the 5 pm Planning Board meeting that occurred many months.
Staff updated the Board on the Board of Commissioners meeting that had taken place the previous night and on
the decisions made regarding the rezonings and special use permit.
Staff provided an overview of the items on the May 4, 2023 regular meeting agenda. No action was taken.
Following a discussion of the special use permit process and the legal framework around quasi-judicial decisions,
the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
